An Old Government Official Wouldn’t Accept A Car As A Gift.

The contractor wanted to give the government official a sports car. The official objected, saying:

“Sir, common decency and my basic sense of honor would never permit me to accept a gift like that.”

The contractor said:

“I quite understand. Suppose we do this: I’ll sell you the car for ten dollars.”

The official thought for a moment and said:

“In that case, I’ll take two.”
