Solution

Shadow 4 is missing a leaf on the left-hand side of the second branch, so it is not the right one.

Shadow 3 is missing a leaf on the middle branch, so it is wrong.

Shadow 2 is missing a leaf on the left-hand side of the third branch, which means it is also wrong.

The appropriate shadow for the tree is shadow 1, which is located on the upward left of the image. Shadow 1 has all the features, an equal amount of leaves, branches, and stem.
