dead man play prank from grave

The young man standing closest to the grave quickly retreated in fear, thinking that old man Shay had really come back to life. Even in death, he still managed to make his loved ones laugh when they were down and sad.

Shay Bradley was a veteran in the Irish Defense Forces. He died on October 8th, 2019 after a long period of illness. The comical Bradley believed that after an illness bravely borne, his friends and family deserved to find solace and peace, and it could start with a bout of laughter in the peak of their sadness.

On Saturday, October 12th, Bradley was laid to rest in Kilmanagh, Kilkenny, Ireland.

“Hello, hello — let me out!” Bradley called from the coffin in a pre-recorded message. Their smiles were instantaneous. Everyone knew the prankster friend was at it again [1]. “Where the f**k am I? Let me out, let me out. It’s f**king dark in here. Is that the priest I can hear? This is Shay, I’m in the box. No, in f**king front of you. I’m dead.”

Bradley ended his prank by breaking into a song with an Irish tune: “Hello again, hello. Hello, I just called to say goodbye.” The funeral guests laughed so much they began to shed tears again. They would surely miss the good-natured man who had lived to protect and entertain.

Forever in their hearts

The video was uploaded to Twitter and has so far garnered 2.7 million views, 36K reaction and 9.8K retweets. Some people didn’t actually get the joke and believed the veteran never really died.

According to Chloe Kiernan, Bradley’s granddaughter, “All he ever wanted was to make people laugh and smile and that’s exactly what he got.”

“My dad’s dying wish, always the pranksters,” His daughter Andrea wrote on Facebook [2].  “Ya got them good Poppabear and gave us all a laugh just when we needed it!! I will love you forever #shayslastlaugh.”

Quality military humor

His friends in the military reposted the video with the caption: “It is with great sadness that I was informed of the passing of our Military Brother and Veteran Colleague Shay Bradley. On behalf of the members of the IDFVA, I extend our sincerest condolences and prayers to Anne and family at this sad time. May Shay Rest in Peace.”

According to them, Bradley’s prank portrayed the difference between military humor and civilian humor. Military guys would usually think outside the box and get super creative with their pranks. More importantly, he made his people happy in a way that would remain in their hearts for a very long time. Nobody would forget the man who allegedly came back to life.

“Was asked a question the other day. It was, ‘What’s the difference between military humor and civilian humor?’ It’s simple. It’s black. This video should say it all. This is the funeral of Shay Bradley on the 12th of October 2019, and it says it all…” IDFVA wrote on Facebook.

Bradley is survived by his wife Anne, his four children – Jonathan, Susanne, James and Andrea, 8 grandchildren, brothers, sisters, and a large extended family. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
